Project 75: Week Six - When Real Life Meets Challenge Goals
Share
As I wrap up week six of Project 75, I'm reminded that even the most dedicated fitness journeys have their complicated moments. This week taught me valuable lessons about adaptation, self-compassion, and the importance of community support.
The Week at a Glance
For the most part, the week progressed smoothly with my usual routine. Training sessions were consistent, nutrition stayed on track, and I maintained my other challenge commitments. However, Saturday brought an interesting test to my challenge dedication.
The Saturday Situation
If you're familiar with Dubai brunches, you know they're not just meals β they're day-long events. When a great friend's birthday celebration fell on Saturday, I found myself navigating the challenge of maintaining my Project 75 commitments while participating in this special occasion.
I tried to plan strategically, aiming to fit my workout either before or after the brunch. Despite minimal drinking and keeping the end goal in mind, time slipped away. By 11 PM, I was facing a deadline with less than an hour remaining in my day. I managed to squeeze in a 30-40 minute workout, but it didn't feel like my usual quality session.
This led to a moment of reflection: should I restart the entire challenge or continue, acknowledging that I did my best under the circumstances? I turned to my Instagram community for guidance, and the consensus was clear β continue forward. Their support reminded me that perfection isn't the goal; dedication and adaptation are.
Looking Ahead to Week 7
As I move into week seven, I'm taking a mindful approach to my training. While this would typically be a week for increasing weights, I'm choosing to listen to my body's signals:
- My menstrual cycle is approaching, which typically affects energy levels and strength
- I've been experiencing unusual morning soreness (possibly due to bed discomfort)
- Recovery feels more important than progression right now
This decision to potentially maintain current weights rather than increase them reflects a growing understanding of my body's needs and cycles. It's a reminder that true strength sometimes lies in knowing when to hold steady rather than push harder.
Lessons Learned
This week has reinforced several valuable insights:
- Real life doesn't pause for fitness challenges
- Adaptation and problem-solving are crucial skills
- Community support can provide clarity in moments of doubt
- Listening to your body is never the wrong choice
As I continue this journey, I'm grateful for these learning opportunities, even when they come through challenges. They're all part of the greater growth this project is meant to inspire.
Here's to moving forward, staying committed, and growing stronger β physically and mentally! πͺβ¨
